Flagstaff Symphony Orchestra Overview
The FSO is a non-union, per-service orchestra currently enjoying its 52nd season serving the people of northern Arizona. Made up of 60+ musicians, the Symphony presents eight subscription concerts (five classical) each season, a small but growing summer series, and occasional runouts in northern Arizona. An annual outdoor pops concert is presented in Sedona, most recently at the new Sedona Cultural Park. Soloists of national renown are usually featured on classical concerts.
Subscription concerts are presented in the 1,492-seat Ardrey Auditorium on the campus of Northern Arizona University. Young People''s Concerts are presented each year to local 3rd-6th graders at no cost to the students or their families. A Lollipop concert is presented each year around the holidays as a service to families with small children and to families who might not afford regular Symphony ticket prices (currently $20-$45). The FSO sponsors its own Suzuki strings program with instruction in local elementary schools. The current annual budget is $486,000.
