The Emirates Cultural Foundation has announced that it has begun preparations for the second Emirates Film Competition, scheduled to take place in March 2003. Featuring a selection independent short films, TV programs and short documentaries created by people in the Emirates region, the competition will award prizes valued between 5,000 and 15,000 Dhs. An award will be offered to an Emirate national who is deemed to have made a significant contribution to the visual arts during the 2002 period, and symbolic prizes will also be announced for distinguished press coverage and participation.
