The cultural connection between Cuba and Italy has been furthered, with the signing of a memorandum agreement aimed at increasing co-operation between the two countries in the area of culture. The signing of the document, by Cuban Vice-chancellor Angel Dalmau and Italian Vice-chancellor Mario Baccine, occurred prior to the opening of an Italian Cultural Institute in Havana and a Cuban Cultural Centre in Rome. Baccine also undertook a round of official talks with Cuban External Relations Minister Felipe Perez Roque, on the subject of the bilateral agenda in the current global climate. Praising the visit, Minister Perez Roque said that the connection between Cuba and Italy would remain an important one. ‘[The visit is] a signal of the will of the Italian government and that of Cuba to continue increasing relations,’ he commented.
