Funding for arts increased in 2002, says Spanish Government

Funding for the theatrical arts and for music increased in 2002, the Spanish Ministry for Education, Culture and Sport has announced.
The National Institute of Stage Arts and Music (INAEM) contributed 5,627,460 Euros to Spanish theatre programmes in 2002. The figure represented an increase of 813,760 Euros from 2001.
INAEM also instituted a new fund for living Spanish dramatists and playwrights in 2002. The fund aims to conserve and develop Spanish theatre at both a national and international level and to facilitate cultural communication between autonomous communities.
