The Varaderos International Song Festival will return to Cuba after an 18-year absence, it was announced by Alexis Vázquez, Vice President of the Cuban Music Institute. The Institute has decided to re-establish the international festival, initiated in the late 1960s and celebrated annually until 1986. Set for the first two weeks in November, traditionally a low season month in terms of tourism, Varaderos looks set to increase the flow of visitors to the nation and further boost its arts profile internationally. The full line-up for the event will be unveiled in late February, with the participation of well known Cuban and international music personalities planned.
