The Interarts Foundation, in collaboration with other leading cultural agencies, is organising an International Congress on Cultural Rights and Human Development to coincide with the Universal Forum of Cultures in Barcelona this August. UNESCO and the Spanish Agency for International Cooperation join Interarts in planning the Congress; expected to be a major gathering of experts, international organisations and networks from different fields related to cultural rights, human rights, cultural diversity, policies and human development. By bringing together these agents from a great number of fields and countries, event organisers aim to foster cultural dialogue and the exchange of expertise, on the topics of cultural rights and indicators for human development. The Congress is only one part of a larger Interarts scheme to stimulate international cultural cooperation and discussion. The organisation is leading a number of regional meetings with experts and civil society actors in different parts of the world; compiling documentation material as well as examples of good practice; and deepening its research on regional perceptions of cultural rights.
