An Introduction to Scientifically Based Research
National Assembly of State Arts Agencies,
01 March 2005, USA
In recent years, the arts education field has been challenged and encouraged to consider scientifically based research methods in the evaluation of their programs. The intent of this monograph, published March 2005, is to familiarize the state arts agency field (and its colleagues) with an understanding of scientific research as a tool for making informed recommendations. State arts agencies are uniquely positioned to play an important role in arts education policy making at the state level; influencing broader education infrastructure in their states; and delivering arts education programs. As part of a larger professional development initiative for arts education managers, the concepts and ideas set forth in this monograph are also intended to prompt reflection, spark discussions and spur further investigation. This monograph would not have been possible without the support of the National Endowment for the Arts. For further information, CLICK HERE
