Report on Workshop of Experts on the Search of Indicators

The workshop was held at the OCPA Secretariat as a follow-up to the OCPA and Interarts Experts' Meeting on Medium-Term Research Priorities (Dakar, Senegal, 16 – 17 November 2005), with the aim to examine and finalize the research projects that OCPA commissioned in view of implementing a research programme on the cultural indicators of human development in Africa, covering four priorities: Culture and Peace, Culture and Poverty, Culture and Health, and Culture and Governance. The participants also discussed the framework proposed for the African preparatory study commissioned by UNESCO in view of the launching of the UNESCO World Report on Cultural Diversity, and proposed priority themes and a selected list of institutions and experts that could be associated with this project. The meeting was organized with the participation of 10 experts and 6 observers from 7 countries (Botswana, Cameroon, Democratic Republic of Congo, Ghana, Mozambique, Spain, Zimbabwe) and representatives from 3 organizations (African Futures, UNFPA and OCPA).
