Finland Advances EU/Russian Cultural Cooperation

On 18 and 19 September 2006, Finland’s Ministry of Education will host an expert meeting on cultural cooperation between the European Union and Russia.
The meeting (organized as part of the Finnish EU Presidency programme) will also formally launch the implementation of the Culture Road Map adopted by the EU and Russia in May 2005.
Along with some 160 cultural and foreign relations experts from the EU countries, Russia and regional intergovernmental organizations, the attendees will include Tanja Saarela (Finnish Minister of Culture), Aleksander Sokolov (Russian Minister of Culture and Mass Communication), Odile Quintin (Director General, D.G. Education and Culture), and John Penny, (Principal Administrator, D.G. External Relations).
