Launch of the Argentinean National Information System for Culture

Ministry of Culture,
25 September 2007, Argentina

Within the frame of the Second Seminar on Cultural Information Systems, the Argentinean National Secretariat for Culture invites you to a free conference: Communication, Culture and Economy. Passwords for Latin American Integration, which will take place September 28 in Buenos Aires. In it will take part the Viceminister of Culture for the Promotion of Cultural Economy of Venezuela, Emma Elinor Cesin; the Viceminister of Culture of Cuba, Fernando Rojas Gutiérrez; the Convenio Andrés Bello Coordinator of Culture, Patricio Rivas, and the Secretary of Culture of Argentina, José Nun.
During the seminar, the Argentinean National Information System for Culture will be publicly launched. Argentina is the third country in Latin America to establish its own national system of cultural information accessible on line: www.cultura.gov.ar/sinca. First came Mexico (http://sic.conaculta.gob.mx) and Colombia (www.sinic.gov.co/SINIC).
Also as part of the Second Seminar, specialists and technicians on public cultural information from Argentina got together in June to advance on the development of the SInCA. They committed themselves to validate information on book and newspaper publishing companies, record labels, bookstores, music stores and newspaper and magazine kiosks, etc., and to add new databases on popular fiestas and festivals, libraries and museums. This information should be ready by the end of September.
