Chief Executive

Arts Council of Wales,
02 April 2008, Wales

The Arts Council of Wales (ACW) wants to recruit a Chief Executive who is inspirational, a proven leader and change manager, with the vision, determination and creativity to inspire and to build on its current success. You will be passionate as well as rigorously objective about the arts, although not necessarily through having worked in the arts. You will combine an established managerial competence with the ability to promote an evolving vision of the intrinsic worth of the arts in Welsh society.

ACW is the lead body through which the Welsh Assembly Government channels public funding for the arts in Wales - it is essential that the funding be administered efficiently and effectively with consistently high standards of propriety and customer care. You will be an excellent and very experienced manager of both resources and staff. You will be a leader who is adept at persuasive argument and capable of advocating the Council's case with balance and integrity at both a national and local level.

As a person you will be deeply committed to the arts and to ensuring that all of the people of Wales have opportunities to enjoy and participate in them, and to achieving the maximum impact for the arts in the broader life and prosperity of Wales. The Council works in both English and Welsh. Fluency in Welsh is desirable but not essential for this post.
