The Arts & Democracy: A Conversation with Dana Gioia

Dana Gioia, Chairman of the National Endowment for the Arts, in an interview with Jonathan Katz, CEO of the National Assembly of State Arts Agencies, discusses the major challenges facing public funding for the arts at the beginning of the 21st century.

He explains the special responsibilities of public agencies and arts organizations and how they can help to broaden nationwide participation in the arts.

As well, Gioia discusses advocacy techniques, including approaching parliamentarians with examples of NEA funded projects in their constituencies.
