We are delighted to welcome the Seoul Foundation for Arts and Culture (SFAC) as an affiliate member of IFACCA.
The SFAC was established by the Seoul Metropolitan Government in 2004 to promote the cultural environment of Seoul and Korea. SFAC supports annually or biannually more than five hundred artists and arts organizations in the fields of performing arts, visual-and multi-arts, literature and festivals.
Through its international programming, SFAC organises the Seoul International Networking Seminar for Festival Organizers (SINSFO) to nurture cultural activities such as festivals, art and city marketing strategies, and cooperation in the arts. SFAC has also been a member of AAPAF (Association of Asian Performing Arts Festival), ISPA, and APAP since 2004.
The primary objectives of SFAC are:
- To encourage and support artists and arts organisations in Seoul so that they can reach their full potential.
- To support citizens of Seoul so that they can enjoy benefit from access to arts and culture.
Main Areas of Activities:
Grant Programs Each year 7 billion won is granted to more than 500 projects. These projects give grants to citizens, fund the professional performing arts, support budding artists and sustain the development of artists through programs such as The Excellency Awards and The Development Fund.
Enriching programs SFAC connects people through cultural events and activities such as the Youth Culture Venture Group, Seoul International Networking Seminar for Festival Organizers (SINSFO), Seoul (Street) Artists, and other Public Arts projects. The SFAC creates a social network to optimize creative energy and talent and to share resources.
Cultivating programs SFAC works with festivals such as the Hi Seoul Festival and the Seoul Spring Festival of Chamber Music on audience development and audience participation. It also runs research programs in cultural trends and cultural policy, including publications and public design.
Engaging programs SFAC runs various out-reach programs, such as programs to promote the joys of reading. The aim is to create a more cultural, imaginative and artistic environment throughout the whole of Seoul.
