The Ministers of Culture from the Nordic countries met in Reykjavik to discuss the reform of Nordic co-operation in the cultural sector, which had been implemented two years ago. The reform aimed to introduce new quality into cultural sector and facilitate cultural partnerships and joint projects. The Ministers state they are still open to further amendments to the reform therefore they will continue to recive comments and opinions considering cultural cooperation from artists and other culture-forming agents and stakeholders in the Nordic countries.

The Icelandic Minister of Culture, Katrín Jakobsdottír, says:

"Even though we have made substantial progress, and the co-operation and better able to meet the new national and international challenges faced by first overall results indicate that we are moving in the right direction, it is important that we maintain dialogue with everybody involved about the implications and opportunities. If there is room for improvement, we would obviously like to know what is working and what is not”.

The next meeting of the Nordic Cultural Forum will be held in Tórshavn in August 2009; it will host the Ministers of Culture and MPs from the Nordic Council.
