NAFEST 2009 has been rescheduled as follows:

Date: Saturday 10th October to Sunday 18th October, 2009

Arrival and Registration: 10th, 11th and 12th October 2009

Official Opening: Tuesday 13th October, 2009 at U.K. Bello Arts Theatre, Minna, Niger State by 5:00pm

NAFEST 2009 Colloquium: Wednesday 14th October, 2009 at Hydro Hotel, Minna, Niger State by 10:00am

Official Closing Ceremony: Saturday 17th October, 2009 at U.K. Bello Arts Theatre, Minna by 3:00pm.

Departure: Sunday, 18th October, 2009
 
 
The National Festival for Arts and Culture “NAFEST” also known a the “Unity Forum” is a yearly festival organized by the National Council for Arts and Culture in collaboration with the Federal Ministry of Tourism, Culture and National Orientation.  The 23rd edition of NAFEST comes up from Saturday, the 10th to Sunday the 18th of October, 2009 in Minna, Niger State with the theme: Culture and the Challenges of our time: Cultural Industries and Wealth Creation.  It has amongst its objectives the following: an avenue for talent hunt; avenue for display of creativity, exchange of ideas, skills and technique acquisition and development; Avenue for promoting much cherished value of common understanding, peace, love and national unity; Avenue for celebrating, the best of our collective heritage.  Participation is drawn from the 36 state of the federation and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), relevant Non-Governmental Agencies and Institutions of higher learning.

The events of these years festival are as follows:

Competitive Events:

•Exhibition on Nigerian Dress Culture/Live Presentation
•Indigenous Music and Dance
•Traditional Moonlight Games
•Traditional Wrestling (Junior and Senior category)
Non-Competitive Events:

•Opening Ceremony

•Closing Ceremony

•NAFEST Colloquium/Book Fair

•Command Performance

•Culture Market/Food fair

•Film Show

•Excursion to Tourism sites in host State

•Ayo Game.

All interested persons/stakeholders are hereby invited to participate.
