IFACCA welcomes The Arts Council of Switzerland as a national member

IFACCA,
25 November 2009, Switzerland

IFACCA is very pleased to welcome Pro Helvetia – The Arts Council of Switzerland as a new national member.

For over 60 years now, the Arts Council of Switzerland Pro Helvetia has been responsible for presenting Swiss culture abroad, promoting cultural dialogue between the various linguistic regions of the country and fostering supra-regional understanding. Through its activities it supports a contemporary, culturally diverse and open-minded Switzerland.  Pro Helvetia is a foundation under public law dedicated to promoting cultural endeavours of nationwide interest.

Pro Helvetia is intent on providing Swiss cultural practitioners with the best possible conditions for the creation and dissemination of their work. It helps them to optimise their impact at home and abroad and fosters encounters with artists from other countries. Pro Helvetia also devises its own programmes focusing on specific geographic and thematic areas. Most recently these included folk culture, the arts of neighbouring regions and cultural exchange with Japan. In the coming years, the emphasis will be on exchange with China, the culture of computer games, and questions concerning the relationship between culture and state.

We look forward to working closely with Pro Helvetia in the future.
