IFACCA attends Culture in Motion conference

IFACCA,
24 February 2011, Belgium

IFACCA’s European Regional Coordinator, Diane Dodd, attended the Culture in Motion conference organised by the European Commission, in Brussels, on 15-16 February 2011.

Each year between 2007 and 2013, the European Commission’s Culture Programme has helped finance an array of initiatives aimed to enhance the vitality of Europe’s cultural sector. The programme not only enables hundreds of organisations and thousands of artists and cultural operators to meet, exchange ideas and tour, the programme also helps develop capacities and foster linguistic diversity.

In light of the European Union adopting its 2020 strategy – a policy approach that is set to help Europe find innovative solutions to become ‘smart, sustainable and provide for inclusive growth’, the European Commission organised this conference with the aim of highlighting the range of projects thus far supported and to invite a debate about the nature of the future Culture Programme.

In the context of the public consultation on the future of the EU Culture programme and preparations to prepare a new legal base for supporting culture, the afternoon of 16 February was dedicated to a public consultation meeting.
