21 April 2011, Australia

IFACCA and the Australia Council for the Arts are delighted to announce three more speakers for the 5th World Summit on Arts and Culture: Katherine Watson, Pilar Kasat and Pamela Udoka.

Katherine Watson has been the Director of the European Cultural Foundation (ECF) (www.eurocult.org) since June 2010. Katherine has over 30 years of international experience, on both sides of the Atlantic, combining interdisciplinary art productions with advocacy, research, policy and programme development for non-profit arts organisations as well as governments. She has a particular interest in investigating how the digital shift has affected our society.

Pilar Kasat’s passion and awareness of the transformative power of community arts began while growing up in Chile under the oppressive regime of General Pinochet. Pilar’s professional roles include teacher, community artist, and senior arts manager. As Managing Director of Community Arts Network Western Australia for seven years, Pilar has led the organisation to its current position as peak body for community arts and cultural development in WA.

Pamela Udoka is the President/Artistic Director of Children’s Arts Development Initiative (CHAIN) which organizes the Annual Chain Children’s Theatre Festival in Nigeria. She was the Pioneer Coordinator of the National Troupe of Nigeria Children’s Theatre Workshop 1992 – 1997. In 2007, her play “The Rejected Blessing” was long listed in the Nigeria Liquefied Natural Gas (NLNG) Prize for Children’s Literature.
