This is a summary of the ideas emerged during almost 10 years of discussions on the relation between culture, local policies and sustainable development. These discussions are “new” for the cultural sector, and the proximity of the Summit of Rio+20 has increased shared understanding.
Discussions have mainly taken place in cities, promoted by NGOs, associations, civil society and local governments.
We believe that these inputs make sense in an open discussion on the future of sustainable development: its conceptual structure, the international institutional framework and its implementation in nations and cities.
