A program of fresh cultural events to be organized in Qatar and London within the framework of “Qatar – UK 2013” was announced yesterday, Monday 18 March 2013 in parallel with the announcement of the festivity sponsors namely “Qatar Gas," “Shell Qatar” and “Vodaphone Qatar." This festivity was meant to further developing the new partnership between Qatar and the UK in the field of arts, culture, education, sciences and sport.

For its part, Qatar Museums Authority will work together with the British Council to develop a set of events to be organized in both countries in cooperation with other partners namely the Ministry of Culture, Arts and Heritage and the Cultural Village “Katara."

HE Sheikha Al-Mayassa Bin Hamad Bin Khalifa Al Thani, Chairperson of the Board of Trustees of Qatar Museums Authority said in a press statement: “Qatar – UK 2013” is the second cultural year program organized in coordination with Qatar Museums Authority.” “We are proud of the success that we have achieved through the cultural exchange with countries all around the world” she added. HE Sheikha Al-Mayassa also pointed out that the mutual exchange with the UK represents an opportunity to promote cultural dialogue and ties between the two countries, adding that Qatar looks forward to cooperating with the UK and establishing fruitful exchange.

For his part, HE Dr. Hamad Bin Abdulaziz Al-Kuwari, Minister of Culture, Arts and Heritage spoke with pride in the same press conference about the exceptional relation between Qatar and UK and said: “I am quite sure that the current year is going to be a special year full of interactive activities that reflect the depth of the cultural, historical and economic relations.
