Taking Part, a survey conducted by DCMS, Arts Council England, English Heritage and Sport England on participation in sport, heritage and the arts, has released its figures covering January to December 2012 and boasts some of the highest participation figures since it began 8 years ago.
Arts engagement increase
Visits to museums and galleries also rose to more than 50% of respondents, the first time since the survey began, an increase of 10% since 2005. Nearly three quarters of adults have visited a heritage site in the past year and 78% have attended or participated in the arts since 2010.
Arts engagement figures have also increased to their highest levels in urban areas since the survey began.
