Minister for Culture and Democracy - areas of responsibility

On 14 October, the Prime Minister decided on the division of responsibilities between ministers. Minister for Culture and Democracy Alice Bah Kuhnke is Head of the Ministry of Culture. Ms Bah Kuhnke is responsible for culture and media issues.
Responsibility for sports will be transferred to the Ministry of Health and Social Affairs. Ms Bah Kuhnke is also responsible for democracy policy, currently under the Ministry of Justice, and discrimination, minority and human rights issues, currently under the Ministry of Employment.

Ms Bah Kuhnke is also responsible for issues relating to religious communities and burials and cremations, the Sami Parliament and civil society policy. At present, these issues come under the Ministry of Health and Social Affairs, the Ministry for Rural Affairs and the Ministry of Education and Research.

The Ministry of Culture will take over responsibility for these new areas on 1 January 2015. On 14 October the Prime Minister decided on a Section 5 order, which means that Alice Bah Kuhnke will present the items of business that are related to her portfolio but that until 1 January 2015 come under ministries other than the Ministry of Culture.
  What is a Section 5 order?
A Section 5 order is an order under Chapter 7, Section 5 of the Instrument of Government that provides for the Prime Minister to decide that an item of business belonging to a certain ministry will be presented by a minister other  
than the Head of that Ministry. This will apply until 1 January 2015, when the areas of responsibility will be transferred to the ministry headed by the minister responsible for them.
