Heavyweight report demands future government protects arts cash

A wide-ranging policy review of the creative industries has called on the next government to treat culture as a priority sector and “strongly champion the intrinsic value of the arts”.

The independent review of policy options for the UK’s creative industries was commissioned by Labour and makes a number of recommendations based on the party forming the next government. However, it is hoped that given the profile of the review’s advisory board, which includes former National Theatre director Nicholas Hytner, TV producer Nicola Shindler and playwright Lucy Prebble, it will inform decision making whatever the political make-up of the next government.
