IFACCA congratulates UCLG on Culture 21: Actions at Bilbao Summit

IFACCA,
01 April 2015, International

At the first Culture Summit of the United Cities and Local Government (UCLG), held in Bilbao  on 18-20 March, IFACCA Executive Director, Sarah Gardner, announced that the board of IFACCA welcomed the extensive range of commitments made regarding the role of culture in sustainable cities.

Meeting a week earlier in Kuala Lumpur, the IFACCA board had reviewed the draft version of ‘Culture 21: Actions’ , supported the values on which the document is based and noted that many national governments would also benefit from considering taking similar actions.

The board agreed that actions taken at the local level would have a positive impact on strengthening culture and communities at the national and international level and offered to help raise awareness of the Culture 21 initiative and the Actions document amongst national arts support agencies.
