National Cultural Policy 2021 | Open Consultation

Ministry for The National Heritage, The Arts and Local Government (Culture Directorate),
02 March 2021, Malta

The past decade has seen a shift in cultural policy from a focus on cultural and creative development to a wider understanding of the links between the cultural sector and the rest of society. A deeper understanding of the complexities and interdependencies involving the social, economic and environmental conditions and parameters of society has emerged. Whilst addressing the immediate needs of arts and culture and reaffirming the intrinsic value they bring to society, this policy also acknowledges the role culture has in tackling global issues such as democracy and collective action, climate change, and other matters related to social and environmental sustainability.
