Tras un amplio diálogo y discusión en la que participaron instituciones, expertos, académicos y representantes de la sociedad civil y colegiada, se ingresó una indicación sustitutiva que reemplaza y enriquece el proyecto de ley de Patrimonio Cultural presentado en junio de 2019 al Congreso, para continuar de este modo su tramitación legislativa. El proyecto busca actualizar la ley N°17.288 de Monumentos Nacionales, que data de 1970 y consolida una normativa de 1925, no habiéndose experimentado cambios sustanciales en casi 100 años.
