Declaration of the European ministers responsible for culture and media on the situation in Ukraine

Under the French Presidency of the Council of the European Union, Roselyne Bachelot-Narquin, French Minister of Culture, invited the European ministers responsible for culture and media to meet in Angers on 7 and 8 March 2022, where they approved a declaration on the situation in Ukraine.

Oleksandr Tkachenko, Ukrainian Minister for Culture and Information Policy, spoke during a videoconference, following which the European ministers responsible for culture and media expressed their solidarity with Ukraine and its people.

They in particular expressed their support for artists, journalists and culture and media professionals, whose freedoms are now threatened due to Russia’s military aggression.
