La Secretaría de Cultura del Gobierno de México, a través del Instituto Nacional de Antropología e Historia (INAH), lleva a cabo importantes obras en la Zona Arqueológica de Chichén Itzá, en Yucatán, en acompañamiento a los trabajos del Tren Maya, entre ellas, la construcción de un museo de sitio y la próxima apertura al público de una sección más en su recorrido conocida como Chichén Viejo o Serie Inicial, espacios que permitirán ampliar la divulgación sobre esta antigua urbe maya, capital de un amplio territorio en esa península hace más de un milenio.
