The annual summary for literature 2023 presents figures, tendencies and trends from Arts Council Norway's literary schemes. The purpose is to strengthen knowledge about the council and facilitate dialogue with the applicants and the actors in the field.
"Arts Council Norway works purposefully to ensure that all children and young people have access to good and up-to-date literature where they are. Therefore, it is gratifying that in the national budget for 2024, an increase of NOK 5 million was added to the school library scheme and NOK 4 million to the drawing series schemes. This came after constant pressure from both Arts Council Norway and the field of literature throughout 2023, and is a long-awaited strengthening of schemes of great importance for children and young people's reading, says Janicken von der Fehr, head of literature at the Norwegian Directorate of Culture.
