In August last year, the Australia Council for the Arts became Creative Australia. In celebrating its first year Creative Australia today launches its inaugural strategy setting a clear path for the next four years.
The Australian Government’s National Cultural Policy: Revive, a place for every story a story for every place, created a new chapter for the Australia Council for the Arts. Building on its 50-year legacy, the organisation transitioned into Creative Australia.
Creative Australia is the Australian Government’s principal investment and development agency for creative practice and engagement. By championing and investing in arts and creativity, the organisation is dedicated to advancing a dynamic creative Australia.
Chief Executive Officer, Adrian Collette AM, said:
“Creativity connects us to culture, to new ideas, to the world, and to each other. This strategy sets out our ambition to unlock a truly creative Australia by investing in artists and organisations to realise their potential.
“Through our advocacy, insights, and evidence we will champion Australia’s cultural ambitions collaborating across government portfolios to maximise the public value delivered through art and creativity.”
The strategy maps to the five pillars of the National Cultural Policy: Revive and commits to monitoring and evaluation.
Mr Collette said:
“Creative Australia’s four-year strategy includes our commitment to evaluate our impact in delivering against our priorities. This will also feed into the State of Culture Report, which will be undertaken by the Government every three years, which is an action in the National Cultural Policy: Revive.”
