The Arts Council Korea and the Korea Publishing & Culture Industry Promotion Agency signed an MOU on September 24 to spread the social value of culture, art and reading at the Daehakro Artist's House.
Through this agreement, the Arts Council and the Korea Publication Promotion Agency plan to promote cooperative dissemination of literature sharing books and Sejong books, mutual connection and utilization of expert information from both organizations, development of joint projects to revitalize overseas expansion of children's and picture books.
Based on the cooperation between the two organizations representing culture and arts and the promotion of publishing, we will strive to support authors and revitalize the publishing industry and reading through this, and in particular, we plan to distribute excellent books more densely so that the underprivileged in reading culture will benefit evenly. In addition, we plan to share expert information from both organizations and develop joint projects.
Jung Byung-kook, Chairman of the □ Arts Council, said, "Basic arts and publishing have become an important foundation for the content industry to become a national strategic project" and added, "I hope that this agreement will be the first step in spreading the value of culture and art and creating great synergy in collaboration between institutions."
On the other hand, the 'Literature Sharing Book Distribution Project', which was promoted by the Arts Council until last year, has been operated since this year when the project was changed to the Publication Promotion Agency. Recommended books, such as literature sharing books, can be applied for after signing up for membership through the Publication Promotion Agency's dedicated online system (https://bookapply.kpipa.or.kr) from December, and the detailed schedule will be announced separately.
