The Minister of Cultural Affairs, Mrs. Amina Sarafi, received on Wednesday, October 30, 2024, the Ambassador of the People's Democratic Republic of Algeria in Tunisia, Mr. Azzouz Baalal, in the presence of a number of ministry officials.
This bilateral meeting was devoted to discussing ways to strengthen the historical cooperation relations between the two countries, establish a strategic partnership based on common interest and aspire to greater integration and integration.
During this meeting, the Algerian ambassador touched on the importance of activating the work of the Higher Committee for Cooperation on the ground, and called for the need to establish an Algerian cultural center in Tunisia.
The Higher Committee for Cooperation includes a number of officials in the cultural sectors of both sides, and in this context, the Minister called for the inclusion of artists from Tunisia and Algeria in the work of this committee to express their artistic concerns and aspirations.
Mrs. Amina Sararafi also stressed the need to further strengthen Tunisian participation in Algerian cultural events, in general, and to celebrate references that value musical heritage through lectures and joint activities in particular, calling in this regard for the importance of establishing a Tunisian-Algerian festival held annually to introduce the musical heritage and folk dance of the two countries, thus enabling the establishment and activation of artistic and cultural rapprochement.
The attendees also touched on the need to formulate an executive program in the near future that includes a number of axes, such as the revival of artistic events on the border strip, the valorization of the cultural and militant commonalities through the events of Sakiet Sidi Youssef, and taking care of the field of tangible and intangible heritage, as well as addressing a draft agreement that brings together the National Library and its Algerian counterpart.
