An open letter to the arts community from Michelle Chawla, Director and CEO of the Canada Council for the Arts.

Over the past year, artists and arts organizations across Canada demonstrated exceptional resilience, creativity and innovation. Amid instability and rapid change, the arts continued to inspire and connect people, contributing to our strength as a country.

This was possible because our community worked together, sharing knowledge, strengthening relationships, and championing the value of the arts with a collective voice. Thanks to this shared effort, we enter 2026 with a strong foundation and a renewed sense of purpose.
