As we welcome 2025, we are delighted to announce a new set of distinguished participants for the 10th World Summit on Arts and Culture which will take place from 27-29 May this year in Seoul, Republic of Korea. These cultural leaders from across the globe will contribute their diverse expertise to our Summit theme Charting the future of arts and culture which explores futureproofing arts and culture through three focus areas: knowledge systems and agency; participatory systems and connectedness; and digital systems and technology.
From Asia, we welcome Ms Aika Alemi from Kazakhstan who serves as Director of Central Asia Creative Incubator and Born Nomad; Ms Renu Ghimire, Program Associate at Freedom Studio in Nepal and Ms Hiroko Tsuboi-Friedman (Japan/Switzerland), consultant and member of the EU/UNESCO Expert Facility Group for the 2005 Convention. Also joining us is Mr Abdullah Alkafri (Lebanon/Belgium), Executive Director and Co-founder, Ettijahat –Independent Culture which supports artists from Syria and the Southwest Asia and North Africa region. And from the Pacific, we have Associate Professor Dr Xin Gu (China/Australia), Director of Master of Cultural and Creative Industries, Monash University in Australia.
Participants from Africa include Dr Ismail El-Fihail, Director General, House of Heritage, Sudan and Ms Avril Joffe, UNESCO Chair in Cultural Entrepreneurship and Policy at the Wits School of Arts, University of the Witwatersrand in South Africa.
From the Americas, we are joined by Mr Santiago Alfaro Rotondo (Peru), sociologist and cultural policy expert; Ms Michelle Chawla, Director and Chief Executive Officer of the Canada Council for the Arts; Ms Paloma Estévez (Chile/USA), Director of Artistic Programming at the Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts, New York City and Mr Eduardo Saravia (Colombia/Germany), economist and member of the EU/UNESCO Expert Facility Group. And from Europe, we are joined by Mr Toni Attard from Malta who is the Founder and CEO of Culture Venture and Dr Daryna Zhyvohliadova, an independent researcher and consultant from Ukraine.
The 10th World Summit serves as a crucial moment for the international community to convene to discuss the future of the cultural and creative sectors and the central role of culture shaping our future in times of turbulence but also in times of opportunities and change. The Summit will continue discussions on key issues related to the philosophies of technology, the governance of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and diversity of knowledge systems required to futureproof CCSs, as well as focused efforts for culture to be an active player in global governance and in the post-2030 sustainable development agenda. These experts from different world regions and contexts join the cohort of diverse voices and perspectives to inform, debate and provoke much needed discussions on the future of arts and culture - don’t miss the opportunity to be part of this exchange!
The Summit is a highly participatory platform with session formats (such as the world café, long table, open space and participatory workshops) that create space for delegate voices and multiple perspectives to be heard.

ACORNS 456: Revelamos una nueva tanda de ponentes de la 10a Cumbre Mundial
Nos alegra dar la bienvenida a 2025 anunciando una nueva tanda de distinguidos(as) participantes en la 10ª Cumbre Mundial de las Artes y la Cultura, que se celebrará los días 27 a 29 de mayo de este año en Seúl, República de Corea. Estos(as) líderes(as) de todo el mundo aportarán sus diversos conocimientos al tema de la Cumbre Trazando el futuro para las artes y la cultura, para explorar y preparar el futuro de las artes y la cultura mediante tres focos transversales: sistemas de conocimiento/saber y agencia; sistemas participativos y conectividad; y sistemas y tecnología digitales.
Desde Asia nos acompañarán la Sra. Aika Alemi, de Kazajistán, directora de la Incubadora creativa de Asia Central y Born Nomad; la Sra. Renu Ghimire, adjunta de programas en el Freedom Studio de Nepal y la Sra. Hiroko Tsuboi-Friedman (Japón/Suiza), consultora y miembro del Banco de expertos UE/UNESCO para la Convención de 2005. A la vez, damos la bienvenida al Sr. Abdullah Alkafri (Líbano y Bélgica), cofundador y director ejecutivo de Ettijahat – Independent Culture, apoyando a artistas de Siria y la región del Sudoeste Asiático y Norte de África. La 10a Cumbre Mundial será un momento crucial para que la comunidad internacional se reúna y debata el futuro de los sectores culturales y creativos (CCS)y el papel central de la cultura para crear nuestro futuro en tiempos de turbulencia, oportunidades, y cambios. La Cumbre continuará el debate sobre sobre temas críticos como la filosofía de la tecnología, la gobernanza de la Inteligencia Artificial (IA) y la diversidad de los sistemas de conocimiento necesarios para preparar a los CCS para el futuro, así como para proseguir los esfuerzos para que la cultura sea un agente activo en la gobernanza global y en la agenda de desarrollo sostenible posterior a 2030. Estos(as) expertos(as) de distintos contextos y regiones del mundo se unirán a la galería de voces y perspectivas que informarán, debatirán y provocarán las conversaciones muy necesarias sobre el futuro de las artes y la cultura.
