Professor Raphaela Henze is the conference chair and has chosen the topic "Cultural Management without Borders – The Internationalization of Cultural Management and Cultural Management Education".

More than 20 speakers (practioners as well as scholars) from 13 different countries will be present during the three-day conference from January 15 to January 17, 2015 . There will be keynote speeches (by Prof. Dr. Caroline Robertson-von Trotha, Frederic Martel and Michael Schindelm), lectures (by Rebecca Matthews and Prof. Dr. Volker Kirchberg) as well as intensive workshops on e.g. cultural choices and marketing strategies for international and diverse audiences or on qualifications for international and intercultural management.

With the significant restructuring of international arts and cultural exchange, especially due to the digital revolution and the shifts in European societies caused by immigration, cultural management is challenged to adopt an open attitude and explore new questions. The 9th Annual Conference of The Association of Cultural Management will thus focus on questions regarding the role of European culture and its perception in the world. Some of the questions pivotal in this context are: What roles do European cultural goods and services as well as national cultural management approaches play in the globalized world? Who holds the interpretative power over what we transport abroad as culture and hence as an image of ourselves? Is culture constrained by the role of the soft diplomat? What key competencies does a cultural manager require to work as a broker between different cultures and different cultural value systems?
