World Culture Forum

04 December 2005, Jordan

The second edition of the World Culture Forum (WCF) will be held at the Dead Sea, Jordan under the theme of 'Investing in Culture for Social Justice and Development'. The Forum will be honoured by the Royal Patronage of His Majesty King Abdullah II of Jordan and His Majesty’s active participation. The WCF convening at the Dead Sea will serve as:
  • a consultative process to stimulate creativity and to mainstream culture in socioeconomic development;
  • a program of action for the development of cultural enterprises; and
  • a global platform or convening where representatives from the civil society, government and private sector interact to address critical issues in the field of culture and development. The rich programme of the Forum includes plenary sessions, seminars, workshops, artistic performances, exhibitions, as well as film & TV screenings. A trade fair will be held at the Convention Center at the Dead Sea giving the opportunity for artists, cultural and artistic organizations to occupy booths/pavilions to showcase their artistic creativity and allow for networking opportunities and more practical interaction among the diverse participants who are coming from different parts of the world. WCF 2005 promises to be an excellent opportunity to share experiences, assess and evaluate challenges in the field of arts and culture and strengthen important relationships.
