Prospects For Cooperation In The Fields Of Cinema, Heritage, Book And Arabic Calligraphy

The prospects for cooperation in the fields of cinema, heritage, writers and Arabic calligraphy are the focus of a meeting between the Minister of Cultural Affairs, Dr. Hayat Katat Al-Garmazi, and the Ambassador of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to Tunisia, Mr. Abdelaziz bin Ali Al-Saqer, on September 14, 2022, in the presence of a number of the Ministry's cadres.

At the beginning of this meeting, the Minister of Cultural Affairs affirmed her keeping pace with the development taking place in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, considering that it is in the stage of take-off at the cultural level through the development of this field and its advancement through a strategic plan that has found its way to light.

For his part, the Saudi ambassador called for direct communication between officials of artistic bodies in his country with their Tunisian counterparts, and also referred to the Tunisian presence at the Riyadh International Book Fair as a guest of honor, stressing that Tunisia has leadership at the Arab level in the field of culture, thought and creative diversity.

In this meeting, they discussed the unification of efforts with regard to the restoration and maintenance of historical monuments, including the restoration of the Mosque of Uqba ibn Nafi and its surroundings and the Mosque of Zaytouna and its surroundings.

In the film field, Saudi Arabia will be the guest of honor for the 33rd edition of the Carthage Film Days event, which will take place from October 29 to November 5, 2022.

Tunisia is also the guest of honor at the Riyadh International Book Fair (29 September - 8 October 2022), where the Tunisian cultural program with the participation of 16 publishers, along with the National Chamber of Publishing Houses, contains a number of seminars, evenings, meetings and literary and artistic workshops. There will also be a celebration on the occasion of the centenary of Tunisian cinema, and a concert by the artist Ziad Gharsa.

Among the future projects discussed at this meeting was the establishment of the Regional Center for Underwater Heritage in Mahdia as part of a joint team between Tunisia and Saudi Arabia.

Also the project of exchanging manuscripts between the National Library and the King Abdulaziz Library and the establishment of the International Center for Calligraphy Arts "Iqraa" in the City of Culture, which was supported by UNESCO and the Kuwaiti Al-Babtain Foundation.
