Conclusion of the thirty-fourth session of Heritage Month

Under the supervision of the Minister of Cultural Affairs, Mrs. Amina Sarafi, and within the framework of the thirty-fourth session of the Heritage Month, and coinciding with the celebration of International Museum Day,
the Archaeological Museum of Selqa hosted on May 18, 2025, the closing activities under the slogan "Heritage and Art: Memory of Civilization", in the presence of the Wali of Mahdia, Mr. Anis Ladhari, the Regional Delegate for Cultural Affairs in Mahdia, Mr. Moez Kharif, the Director General of the Agency for the Revival of Heritage and Cultural Development, Mrs. Rabia Belfakira, the Director General of Heritage, Ms. Shiraz Said, and the Director General of the Institute. The National Heritage Mr. Tariq Baccouche and a number of officials in the ministry.

Since the morning of the closing day, the city of Salqata in the province of Mahdia has experienced a special festive atmosphere, which values the region's heritage of clothing, customs and arts.
In a speech delivered on the occasion, the Minister stressed the value of organizing the "Heritage Month" event every year, which opened this year from the archaeological site in Kirkwan and concluded at the Archaeological Museum in Salqta, adding that Heritage Month will remain a distinguished occasion to discover the richness of our national heritage, to emphasize the originality and specificity of our country, to consolidate the spirit of patriotism among all Tunisians, and an occasion to honor all creative artists in all fields and cultural and artistic disciplines.
For his part, the governor of the region, Anis Ladhari, stressed the importance of the vital interaction between heritage and development and the importance of valorizing Tunisia's civilizational and cultural heritage based on new methods of promoting heritage through innovation and the use of modern technology.

The attendees who followed the closing activities gathered around the space surrounding the museum to discover more than one new cultural and creative station, such as the "Mapping" display with image and sound on the façade of the museum, which spoke with an artistic and light aesthetic and an accelerated format about illuminating and milestones from the history of the city of Salqata first, and from the history of Tunisia in general, and the interactive visit to the museum using "HOLOBOX" technology.

Mohamed Ali Ezzedine, Hadeel Mabrouk and Rawan El Soltani, who participated in the "Hack the Heritage Version", were crowned as part of a national project aimed at exploring and employing Tunisia's cultural heritage through the development of creative innovation projects on how to value this heritage and link it to technology.
During this ceremony, a number of new archaeological discoveries were presented in Sbiba from the wilaya of Gersine and Canal Jarzouna from the wilaya of Bizerte.
The evening concluded with the artistic performance "Dabak Tabl" by the National Troupe of Folk Arts, led by Imed Amara and produced by the Tunis Opera Theater.

As a reminder, the Archaeological Museum in Salqta is one of the regional museums that highlight the history and archaeological heritage of the region, established in 1980, and includes a collection of artifacts discovered at the archaeological site of Salqata, dating back to the Roman and Byzantine eras.
