Arts Council England launches Responsible AI Cultural Leaders Academy

Arts Council England, 26 June 2026, England

Artificial intelligence is no longer on the horizon - it is already shaping how culture is experienced, managed and distributed as well as creating new challenges and opportunities in creative practice itself.

This raises important questions. How can sector leaders respond to these technologies in ways that support, rather than undermine, creativity? What might a fair economic model for creative practice look like in the age of AI? How could these technologies support the operational management of cultural organisations? How do these technologies align with values of access, equity, creativity and accountability?

Arts Council England are taking an important step forward in addressing these challenges with the launch of the Responsible AI Cultural Leaders Academy, the first initiative of its kind in our sector. Designed for cultural leaders, the AI Academy will build knowledge, confidence and capability in engaging with AI, enabling participants to bring that learning back into their organisations and share it across the wider sector.
