Culture Ministry urges intensified efforts to combat illicit trafficking of cultural property

Ambassador Omar Selim, Advisor to the Minister of Culture for International Relations, stressed that culture is no longer viewed solely as a guardian of identity and heritage, but has become a key driver of innovation, sustainable development, social cohesion and mutual understanding among peoples. He also underscored the need to intensify international efforts to combat the illicit trafficking of cultural property and facilitate the return of artifacts and cultural objects to their countries of origin, describing this as a shared moral and humanitarian responsibility to protect humanity’s heritage.
