On 3–4 September, a meeting of the Baltic Cultural Committee will take place in Tallinn, during which representatives of the ministries of culture of Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania will sign the cultural cooperation programme of the three countries for 2027–2030.

"The world has changed a lot compared to 1994, but one thing has remained the same – cultural cooperation between Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania continues to be strong," said Merilin Piipuu, Secretary General of the Ministry of Culture. "In the current security situation, this means that we must together highlight the role of culture and heritage in strengthening the resilience of society to crises and democracy. Signing the new cooperation programme provides a good opportunity to see where we have reached together and set goals for the next four years."

The Baltic Cultural Committee is a regular form of cooperation between the Ministries of Culture of Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania, which takes place once a year and where various practical cooperation topics are discussed. This year, the match will be hosted by Estonia. Close cooperation between the Baltic States on cultural policy issues helps to keep cultural topics visible at the European level as well. In 2027, the attention of the whole of Europe will be on the Baltics: Estonia will host the Ukraine Reconstruction Conference in January, the Latvian city of Liepāja will be the European Capital of Culture, and Lithuania will lead the Presidency of the Council of the European Union in the first half of the year.

During this meeting, various cultural institutions will be visited in Tallinn, such as the soon-to-be-completed Tallinn Art Hall and the National Library. At the end of the Committee's two-day programme, the Committee will also participate in the Baltic Opera Gala, which will take place for the first time on 4 September, bringing together soloists from Estonian, Latvian and Lithuanian opera theatres.
