IFACCA – in partnership with its affiliate member, the Nordic Culture Fund (through their global initiative, Globus) – has launched a fellowship for representatives of its National Members in developing economies across Africa, Asia, the Caribbean, Latin America, and the Pacific.
The IFACCA-Globus Fellowship is a tailored hybrid learning and exchange programme for mid-career and senior representatives of IFACCA National Member institutions. The fellowship focuses on current issues in cultural policy and how to effectively use evidence and data to build a strong case for public support to the cultural and creative sectors (CCSs) at the national level.
The fellowship also facilitates networking among participating institutions, fostering regional and international peer connections. Additionally, the programme promotes knowledge and experience sharing among fellows, experts, and professionals from the CCSs.
The fellowship covers various topics, including:
- Trends, issues, and emerging challenges in the field of cultural policy, including international mechanisms and frameworks governing arts and culture; whole-of-government approaches to policymaking for culture; participatory governance methods and approaches for engaging with civil society across different contexts; impact of Artificial Intelligence (AI); and the evolving role of public institutions and leadership challenges in today's dynamic global landscape
- Monitoring, evaluating, and measuring culture , covering topics such as research methods; data collection and analysis; data ethics and privacy; reporting; monitoring, evaluation, and impact assessment; and communicating data effectively.
The fellowship is delivered through a mix of self-paced learning, virtual webinars, peer exchanges and workshops, facilitated by experts and fellows. Sessions emphasise interactivity and hands-on exercises, with a focus on both regional and global perspectives. Sessions are held in English and Spanish (with interpretation).
- The entire journey of the programme is framed to ensure that fellows can connect with international peers
- exchange knowledge and lived experience in a safe setting
- understand contextual differences while harnessing the ability to apply knowledge specific to their settings
- develop and refine knowledge and insights for application and
- build their skills and knowledge to communicate key issues to ‘make the case for culture’
