The Charlemagne Institute of European Studies invites you to the 12th Conference 'European Culture' which will take place in Barcelona, Spain on 24-26 October 2013 at the Campus of the International University of Catalonia.
The conference aims to foster the dialogue between experienced teachers and young researchers through the presentation of academic papers, which may be included in the Conference Proceedings digital publication. All European Culture conferences are characterized by their variety, both in the issues dealt with in the academic sessions and in the nationality and background of the participants. Within the framework of the conference, European culture is not understood as a specific identity, but as encompassing all cultural expressions manifested in Europe and in relation to other continents.
The European Culture conferences take place every two years, first organised in 1990 and hosted by the Centre for European Studies at the University of Navarra until their ninth edition in 2007. In 2009 the tenth edition of the conference was organised by the Charlemagne Institute of European Studies, and it has been taking place at the Campus of the International University of Catalonia (UIC) ever since. The Charlemagne Institute of European Studies was created in 2000 out of the need to establish an area dedicated to teaching, studies, research and dialogue about Europe at the University.
The European Culture conference is organized in collaboration with the European Culture Jean Monnet Chair ad personam, held by Enrique Banús with the financial support of the European Commission through the Jean Monnet Programme of the Directorate-General for Education and Culture.
The call for papers is now open. Send your abstracts to the Conference Organising Committee at congresocultura@uic.es by 31 March 2013.
