2006 GIA Conference BEANTOWN REMIX
Co-hosted by Grantmakers in the Arts,
12 November 2006 – 15 November 2006, USA
Advocates, instigators, abolitionists, suffragists, cyberartists, high tech. Catalyze! Empower! Convene! Red brick and brownstones. Streets that wander from pasture to plaza and culture to community. Where old greets new: civic potential, tension, texture, triumph. First People, immigrants, students, politicians. Dancers, painters, poets. Arts in action. Ships and tea. Taxation with representation. A revolution again. This is the art of it. Boston.
Beantown Remix will highlight the assets of the region's arts community while continuing and deepening conversations begun at earlier conferences. A preliminary list of topics that will be explored include: historic preservation, working artists and cultural tourism, research and cultural economic development, cultural democracy and civic dialogue, arts education, support for individual artists, and the intersection between art and technology.
