WTO and GATS, The implications of liberalising public services in the fields of culture and education
The conference attempts to provide information on the opinion and further strategy of regional government Ministers in Europe on the General Agreement on Trade in Services (GATS). The conference also pursues the objectives of further involvement for the parliament and government at local and regional levels in a debate which, to a wide extent, took place behind closed doors.
The conference will be open to a limited number of observers from universities, professional organisations and NGO’s. If you or your organisation is interested in attending, you are invited to contact the conference secretariat.
People are also invited to submit opinions or proposals to the Ministers. The conference will be conducted with a final declaration presenting the opinion of the Ministers.
