2nd International Conference of Council of African Museums

The 2nd International Conference of the Council of African Museums will be held from October 4-7, 2006 in Capetown, South Africa, in partnershp with SAMA (South African Museums Association).
The conference will focus on "Intangible Heritage".
The meeting will bring together museum and heritage professionals from Africa and beyond to discuss the management, promotion and protection of this living heritage and the potential threats, as well as its value as an asset for the African continent.
Over 300 participants are expected, including:
AFRICOM and SAMA members;
Members of ICOM , its regional organisations and its committees;
Museum and heritage professionals around the world;
Representatives of cultural and heritage organisations: UNESCO, ICOMOS, ICCROM, ALECSO, ISESCO;
Representatives from the African Union and the South African Government; and
Funding and technical partners.
During the meeting the General Assembly will:
elect members to the new Board of Directors 2006-2009;
elaborate a strategic plan and activities of AFRICOM for the next three years; and
evaluate the activities of the organisation.
