Building on a series of thought–provoking debates on the topic of crisis started by ENCATC in 2011, the 2015 edition of the ENCATC Annual Policy Debate will gather influential academics, researchers, cultural managers and professionals, policy makers, EU representatives and the wider public for an exchange on how best to connect students to potential employers in arts and culture or equip them with strong entrepreneurial skills to eventually set up their own business. The debate will also look at the perspective of employers to ask which critical skills and elements must be present or developed in education programmes and which cannot be taught in the classroom. Moreover, how are practitioner and academic approaches to entrepreneurship training linked? Is there an ethical debate within the role of the art manager or cultural entrepreneur? The event in Brussels will also be the European launch of the “Teaching and Learning Cultural Entrepreneurship” publication produced by the University of Minnesota, the Antwerp Management School, the University of Antwerp in partnership with ENCATC.
