About WorldCP

The WorldCP database contains cultural policy profiles for a number of countries, which are updated on an ongoing basis. The profiles follow the structure developed by the Council of Europe and the ERICarts Institute for their Compendium of Cultural Policies and Trends in Europe. We were nominated by these two organisations to develop an international version of the Compendium as a tool for policy makers, researchers, advocates and the global community.

The database allows users to monitor and analyse global trends in cultural policy, and has been made possible with the support and cooperation of key regional organisations in Asia, Africa, the Americas, the Pacific and the Arab countries. WorldCP provides the following benefits to national governments, policy-makers, partners and the international community:

  • significantly enhanced access to national and international cultural policy information
  • consistent format and methodology for documenting policies
  • reliable information for cultural policy research and analysis
  • the capacity to exchange and cooperate on policy making and analysis
  • assistance in reporting on international legal instruments and conventions
  • engagement with international cultural research platforms
  • profiles in English and, where possible, in the native language of the country profiles
