The Conference « History, Memory and Rapprochement of Cultures» is organized in the framework of 2010, International Year for the Rapprochement of Cultures. It helps revisiting the concept of the rapprochement of cultures, in the light of great moments of dialogue, but also of tragedies that marked history and collective memory to understand the conditions for a better living together.
This Conference has a threefold objective:
- Identify the greatest moments of dialogue in human history and underline the factors, conditions and processes that facilitated the legendary interactions between cultures and peoples, sources of innovation and social transformations;
- Examine the greatest human tragedies which marked history and their effects on the rapprochement of cultures and discuss the possibilities and conditions of appeasing and overcoming these painful memories;
- Deliberate on the affiliations between rapprochement and cultures and study their relevance in the light of the new concept on culture and this, within the new cultural dynamics of our modern societies.
It brings together fifteen participants, experts from various fields and coming from different regions.
