Conversations Across Cultures: Enterprising Art and Artistic Practice
18 February 2005 – 20 February 2005, USA
The seminar style course, Conversations Across Cultures: Enterprising Art and Artistic Practice, brings together artists, cultural theorists, entrepreneurs, managers, and educators involved in the creation of artistic products in conjunction with business environments.
The course explores the twin themes of art and enterprise, taking as its premise the view that the arts have intrinsic values which can influence business models. Students will undertake site-based inquiry using Christo and Jeanne-Claude's Central Park installation The Gates as the primary case study.
The program takes place across two days and will involve keynote addresses, panels, plenary sessions in the areas of contemporary business, marketing, artistic practices, and educational collaborations.
